8 Months Going On 9!

So I finally got back on my blog and am at it again - I hope anyway! Can you believe that I haven't posted since November. In my defense I actually started a post in December and I am posting it even though it is over a month old!

"We have almost hit the 9 month mark and I am just now posting Wyatt and Avery's 8 month pictures. I'm terrible, I know!

The month has come and gone in a flash, but here are some highlights from month 8.

Playdates with our friends Julia and Rhett!
We have also learned how to get into more stuff - pictured here is our excursion into the bookcase in our family room, a.k.a. playroom!"

This is all that I started from December so I plan to blog more over the next couple of days!

Fun in the Sun

It was a beautiful fall day today and we couldn't help but snap some pictures of Avery and Wyatt outside. We had a lot of fun as they experienced the great fall weather!

Avery and I had fun "walking" through the grass as daddy snapped some shots of us.

Wyatt has turned into quite a ham. He kept squinting up into the camera with these cheesy grins!

This was their first experience with leaves. Of course the leaves went straight into their mouths!

We love fall!

New Additions

We have a couple more additions to our family.... Wyatt's first two teeth!
And we thought he couldn't get any more adorable!!!

A Halloween Tradition

In 2007 we started a Halloween tradition in the Asay household. We carve pumpkins just like most families during this time of year, but our subject matter is not monsters or ghosts. Morgan has been carving our family onto our pumpkins. This year Morgan added our newest family members, Avery and Wyatt. Here is this year's masterpiece!

Monkeying Around Because We are Bananas Over Halloween!

On Saturday, Avery and Wyatt celebrated their first Halloween! Wyatt decided that he wanted to be a monkey so, of course, Avery decided on a banana....ok, ok, I picked the costumes out that will inevitable embarass them in years to come!

We visited Great Grandpa Asay and met up with some of their cousins....Ethan, Kierstin, and Tyler! After leaving Great Grandpa's Avery and Wyatt proved to us just how exhausting Halloween haunting can be as they both fell asleep in the car on the way to our next stop, Grandpa and Grandma Asay's. Luckily, they both woke up just as we were knocking on their door!
I absolutely love this picture of our lil' banana sound asleep after just one stop!
I hope you don't think we forgot Grandma and Grandpa Kemphues!!!! Grandma K came to visit last weekend and Avery and Wyatt insisted that they put their costumes on and let Grandma take some pictures!
We were worried it would be an exhausting night for not only A & W, but for mom and dad as well. As always, they were wonderful and had the best attitude about it all. They may not have smiled and giggled as much as usual, but they took the whole night in without even a fuss! It was definitely a Happy Halloween!

Bathtime Antics

One of our favorite times of the day is bathtime. Avery and Wyatt have graduated to the big bathtub now that they both sit up like pros. Boy, is it tons more fun for all of us. We no longer have to wrestle a wriggly, wet baby in a bathtub that is too small. They now have fun toys to play with and room to splash. They have about ten squirt toys that float around the tub, but they fight over the sacred rubber ducky often! These are some pictures of our bathtime fun!

Happy 7 Months!!!

On Monday Avery and Wyatt will be 7 months old! This past few weeks have marked some exciting times for A & W. Avery has begun rolling over, Wyatt is up on his knees beginning to rock, both are eating solid foods, Wyatt is a champ at sitting up and Avery is close behind (which means we are almost ready for the big bathtub!!!), and both are keeping mom and dad entertained with their antics!

They have really begun to interact with one another - especially in the mornings after not seeing each other all night. Wyatt is always the one who squeals with delight at Avery after they finish their bottles and Avery always chimes in. They also have fun on the changing table now that they both know how to roll around now. Our cats have no idea whats ahead for them - both A & W have shown quite an interest in them and as for now the cats like to lay just out of reach. I am waiting for the day when Wyatt just takes off after one of them....and that will be the last we see of the cats until the kids are in elementary school.

All in all we are one happy family, full of giggles and fun times all around!

Food Firsts

Look at this bib - bbq, soup, pepsi and drool!

What a cutie!
Yes, this is a sparerib bone and yes, he loved it! Everytime grandpa would try to put it in his mouth Wyatt would open his really big! YUMMMM!
A couple weeks ago Morgan and I decided it was time to resume some normal activities that we did pre-babies.....like going out to dinner on occasion. Don't get me wrong, we have been out on dates since the babies have come, but we had yet to take them with us. So....this is Avery and Wyatt's first experience in a restaraunt and wow did Wyatt have fun! We invited Grandma and Grandpa Asay to go with us and Grandpa introduced Wyatt to some new foods. His food firsts for the night were a sparerib bone, potato soup, and even a sip or two of Cherry Pepsi. I guess Wyatt knows who to go to when mom says no! Avery doesn't ever really get into eating like Wyatt does, but she did her fair share of observing her surroundings. All in all they did great and we could actuall fathom taking them out again. Although, we might have to leave Grandpa at home so as not to spoil my lil' man anymore (just kidding grandpa!) or create a laundry disaster for me!

My Two Goofballs

Today is a good day! A & W woke up on cue at 7:45 and babbled in their cribs for awhile - let me rephrase that....Avery babbled and Wyatt quietly kept himself entertained. We got up, got dressed and headed downstairs for breakfast. After breakfast in our boppies I sat each of them up and burped them. Wyatt can now sit up by himself so he played with some rings. I then moved Avery over so that she could practice sitting up - a skill she hasn't mastered yet. Wyatt immediately started "talking" and giggling at Avery and she responded with a few high pitched shreaks. They continued studying each other and taking each other's toys as well as babbling and screaching back and forth. They entertained each other for a good hour - Avery was getting a kick out of watching Wyatt roll around the floor and he was finding it amusing to take her toys - showing her how to really play with them. It was so exciting to see them finally recognize each other and realize that they now have a playmate other than mom and dad!
Phew! That's one less song of pat-a-cake and itsy-bitsy spider I have to sing!

Moments

Here I am back on my blog. I am finding myself having a hard time coming up with just one blog post because I have so many thoughts running through my head - it's been a month since my last post. I also keep hearing a muffled cry from my little girl as she tries to get into her comfy spot for the night - I can't keep my concentration because I keep thinking it will break out into a full blown cry any minute. Most of the time it doesn't, but then again there are those rare moments when I have to go up and snuggle with my little cutie and comfort her back to sleep. Although the cries are heartbreaking, I love the opportunity to cuddle one on one with my little girl ... while being able to sneak a peak at my lil' man sound asleep in the crib next door. It's these little moments that I cherish the most! Tonight it seems that she has lulled herself back to sleep so the cuddling will have to wait until tomorrow.

I had a moment earlier as I fed them before bed. Morgan has a football game tonight so I was on my own for the bedtime routine. He usually leaves around 5. As the afternoon rolls into the evening things can get a little hairy in the Asay household. It seems like right after dinner they start getting fussier and fussier and want someone's undivided attention. Ok if there are two of us, but when it's just one we'll just say it gets a little crazy. Once we get into our routine of bath, book and bottle things just seem to fall into place. Tonight was a bit different because as I bathed Wyatt, Avery was in the crib awaiting her turn while crying her little lungs out. Trying to make the bath enjoyable for Wyatt is not the easiest when you have a screaching (yes, screaching is what it sounds like) little girl in the background. We did our best and when it was Avery's turn for bathtime Wyatt repaid the favor. I kept my cool and continued on with the routine. We usually feed them on our bed for their last bottle of the night and so I continued with the routine. I propped each on their own pillow (mom's and dad's of course) and proceeded to give each their nighttime bottle. As they finished the last drop they each slowly closed their little eyelids and dosed off. They were adorable - so content after filling their bellies. I wanted so badly to go grab the camera, but couldn't pull myself away from their content little bodies. It's in these moments that all the craziness fades into the background and I am reminded of how special it is to have these two in our lives!
Here's to more happy moments!

A Day in the Life of A & W

Another fun day spent with mom! Today we were movers and shakers and scooted circles around each other while mom took way too many pictures of us! We are experts at getting ourselves into positions we can't get out of, which makes us a little frustrated at times. We always give mom a great big grin when she flips us or gives us a favorite toy. We love our crinkly book and tiny stuffed toys to chew on. We are both teething and drool all over everything! Our favorite time of day is the morning - we are so refreshed from a long nights sleep (yeah!, mom says) We love to talk to mom while she tries to give us our breakfast. A lot of times we just grin at her through our bottle....usually she smiles back and shakes her head. Sometimes we hear her mumble...."man, are you guys just like your dad or what?"
We really miss everyone and can't wait to see you!
love, Avery and Wyatt

My Adorable lil' Man

My adorable little man - Avery was still napping and from her temperament before her nap she needed the extra sleep. So.....Wyatt and Mommy got to spend some fun quality time together.

A couple weeks ago Grandma and Grandpa K visited us. Avery and Wyatt were spoiled as usual and so was daddy. Somehow he always seems to sneak in a nap when my parents come visit. I guess he knows there are extra hands to help so he relaxes - ALOT as you can see. I guess I'll allow it because on very rare occasions I sneak a nap during the day while he's at work. What he doesn't know won't hurt him!

More Carrots Please!

Avery always seems to be the one wearing more food than Wyatt. At this particular meal we were eating carrots. As you can tell from the pictures, it's obvious he is getting more in his mouth if you look at the size difference. I think that is why he is affectionately called our lil' chubbers right now! Avery is our lil' goofball as she loves to smile and spit while we TRY to feed her. Occasionally she decides that she wants to eat and gets down to business, but usually leaves that for Wyatt.

New House, New Tricks

Again, it has been forever since our last post! We have been busy moving into our new house and have been trying to make it a home. It's not quite there yet, but we are definitely feeling more comfortable and less like strangers in our new place.

We closed on our house on July 24th in a record breaking closing time of 3 1/2 hours - yes, I said three and a half hours!!!! It was all over a matter of $7.25 which did not match between the relocation company we were buying the property from and the title companies' paperwork. It was a stressful day, but in the end we were able to move in. Our garage started out as a huge pile of boxes, but now we are down to a few odds and ends that we need to find a home for.

Some of favorites about our new home....

* We have the same amount of things that we had in our old house, but somehow it doesn't feel
near as cluttered and full! We actually have space now!
* I have a sun room that is becoming our family studio space - now equipped with my drafting
table - I can't wait to get started on a project!
* My new stackable washer and dryer - We got quite a deal and I love the new set up!
* Morgan's fav is the attic stairs which give him easy access to store all of those Christmas
decorations that I have.
* He is also a huge fan of the new leather couch and loveseat we purchased. I have to say I
agree because they are SO comfortable and it's very easy to clean up the spit-up that so often '
graces it's cushions!

We can't leave Avery and Wyatt out - they are the 'New Tricks' part of this post. About a week and a half ago Wyatt was so excited about the new house that he started to roll over! After he started he just couldn't stop and would roll every time he was put on his back. In a matter of seconds he would be on his tummy. He has sinced slowed his rolling, but is ready to be able to sit up becuase he hates to lay flat now! He also has started eating cereal like a champ! He really chows down and stays pretty neat while doing it! I'm sure you are all waiting for an update on Avery's tricks...she is not yet rolling but is eating cereal. She is more concerned with her hands and feet and now lays on the floor with her feet up in the air for what seems like hours at a time. She is definitely good at grasping things and loves to play with my face, hair, necklaces, and glasses now. Both Wyatt and Avery are the happiest babies with an abundance of laughs, giggles, and even snorts to share. They are now 5 months old!

Home Sweet Home

A week from tomorrow we will be loading up the Uhaul with all the items and memories that we have accumulated in our first home. We have lived here for a little over 5 years and I can't believe all that has happened in this home.

* We got married (2004)
* Melissa finished her masters degree (2004)
* Morgan graduated from Purdue (2007)
* Morgan got a job (2008)
* Avery and Wyatt came along (2009)

Not to mention all the happenings of our families - two of our siblings were married, my mom battled and won against leukemia, my sister moved to the UAE for a year, there have been numerous additions to the Asay family including the newest due in January, not to mention the addition in the Kemphues family due in September.

We also had great fun making home improvements over the past five years. We added laminate floors throughout our home, a tile backsplash, painted all the walls at some point (at least twice), and added landscaping and a deck to the backyard. I'd say we had a lot of fun!

Needless to say we have created many memories here and will miss our humble abode. However, we are excited to move into a house that will accomodate our growing family. If you are reading this blog I know you have probably shared in some of our memories and we are looking forward to including you in the memories yet to be made!

Bear-y Big

Wow - it has really been a month since our last post! I guess everyone will be surprised at how much Wyatt and Avery have changed since this post will be mainly about them. A & W are now 16 weeks old and closing in on that 4 month date of July 12th. They have their 4 month visit with the doctor on July 16th so we will find out how much they have grown in the last 2 months.

I can't believe the changes since we first brought them home. Do you recognize these guys?

Now look at them - they are starting to tower over the bear instead of the other way around. Not to mention those adorable smiles they're sharing!

So far we have definite smiling and cooing and Wyatt has even giggled at us on a few occasions. Avery has now rolled over once! They are both sleeping until between 4-6 am which is a huge change from every 3 hours. Can you believe that Morgan and I were each waking up every 3 hours to feed these guys - okay, so I guess you can tell by looking at the little chubsters:) It is so nice to get a good block of sleep in now!

As for Morgan and I....we have since sold our house and found a new house, which we will be moving into on July 24th. The big day is only weeks away and we couldn't be more excited. Here is a shot of the front of our new house!

Until next time!

There's No Place Like Home

Saturday we took Avery and Wyatt out for their first outing that lasted more than an hour. We drove to Indy to attend our nephew's birthday party. They did extremely well and slept or were quiet for the entire ride. The party was fun and it felt good to be out with the family! However, on the way home we ran into a pretty bad storm. We drove through some heavy rain that quickly graced us with some pea-sized hale. We were told it was going to get worse so we back tracked a bit and took shelter in Lebanon - staying in plain sight of the storm at a nearby gas station. It was not long before we saw this beauty and decided we should head west.

It turns out that this cloud formation had a lovely rotation of clouds in the center of it and we were right in its path. It proved to be harmless, but it did give us an excuse to stop and feed both Avery and Wyatt who had started to fuss due to hunger. It was definitely an exciting trip, and it definitely won't stop us from making more in the future!

Avery was excited to be home after driving through all that!
