Two Weeks from Tomorrow!!!

Two weeks from tomorrow is the twins official due date and boy are mom and dad ready! We had our 34 week appointment on Monday afternoon and all looks great. We didn't get a chance to see them via ultrasound, but my belly is showing definite signs of baby growth (thank goodness the rest of my body is not showing too many signs of momma growth-ha!) They are both transverse, which means they are laying sideways and their heads are actually on the same side. Unfortunately for mom, this has made lying down quite uncomfortable and sleeping a thing of the past. Most nights you will find her sitting up against 3 pillows with some around her and then even more underneath her legs. As I have been told by many - "this is preparing you for what's to come". Got it - no need to reiterate that point anymore!

Because the little ones are turned all funky I will be having a C-section so that has already been put into motion. We have another appointment next week and then a final ultrasound two days before the big day to make sure their growth is on track. They gain about a half a pound a week so they could, quite possibly be, 6.5 lbs by their due date. Yeah!!!

The trick will be to continue sitting around for two more weeks! The doctor has put me on strict orders to "take it easy" and just sit back and watch them grow. Easier said then done! Morgan will be done with wrestling next Saturday so I will thankfully have my trusty companion back in the evenings to keep me company, but until then I am going to try to scrapbook around my big belly and maybe work on a couple of paintings for the nursery.

What a Day!

Today was our monthly ultrasound during which we get a sneak peak at our twins! We will have just one more before actually meeting them in a few weeks.

Mom and babies were said to be doing great and thanks to my long torso and extremely taught abs (yeah, right!) you would never know that I am carrying around a 4 lb 11 oz. girl and a 4 lb 8 oz boy! Yes - I have almost 10 lbs of baby right now with 4 weeks to go! They are estimated to be somewhere around 5.5 lbs - to maybe 6.5 lbs by delivery day. What an adventure this will be to make it through the next few weeks! I am now measuring at the size of someone who is at 40 weeks if that helps those of you who say I'm just not big enough to be having twins!

Our girl is still in a tight squeeze and actually almost eating her foot as you can see in the picture below!

She was a bit more visible during this ultrasound so here are a couple more pics of our sweet lil'girl!

Our lil' boy is never shy and gave us a couple good shots of his own!

We are still in awe that this is actually real and we will be bringing these two beautiful babies into the world! We feel truly blessed and can't wait to share them with you!

Wiggles and Hiccups at 32 Weeks!

It's been an eventful couple of weeks! I have been off of work for a week now... thanks to my doctor! She said it was time for me to "take it easy". How can I take it easy when I will be bringing home two babies in a matter of 4 weeks now? Needless to say, I have spread out my to do list over the course of this week and have accomplished just about all that I set out to do - a little at a time. Don't worry about me doing too much though....each item was followed by a much needed nap with one of the cats or just a good rest in front of the tv with my feet up.

The nursery is just about cleaned up with a few items that are in the "I have no idea where to put this" category for the time being. I figure they will find a place at some point. Here is a sneak peak at one of the quilts that were finally finished this week as part of my list:)

Doesn't he look cute working so diligently on this...oh, I didn't mention that a lot of the items on my to do list were reminders for me to remind Morgan to do things! I try not to bog him down with to many to do's as he is in the middle of middle school wrestling season. He is doing a great job juggling work, sports, and an emotional mom-to-be and I couldn't be more proud of him!

As far as the babies - they are growing like weeds still and getting quite strong. We are at 32, almost 33, weeks now with another doctor's appointment next week. It is not rare to find Morgan and I in awe at the crazy movements of the twins each night before we go to bed (at least some of us try to sleep, but most of the time only one succeeds - I'll let you guess who it is!) They twist, turn, elbow, kick, and just the other night started a new phenomenon - hiccups. We are pretty sure it's our little boy who gets them at least once a day. He is quite the acrobat in there and seems to be doing most of the movin and shakin! The last time we saw them our little girl was head down and squished up in a tight ball because someone else is somewhat of a bully! She'll learn (once I teach her) to not let boys push her around anymore!

I think we have caught you up on the bunch of us - more to come soon!
