Can We Have Any More Fun?

For their birthday, Wyatt and Avery got a red wagon from their mom and dad. I'm not sure who was more excited about it, mom or A & W! When I came up with the idea to get them a wagon for their birthday I thought about all the possibilities of fun it would bring. The first thought was wheeling them through the pumpkin patch to pick out and haul pumpkins and kids. I know, you can already imagine how cute that would be, right? Second I thought of our gardening escapades around our yard. Hauling flowers, dirt, and dirty kids holding and probably ripping apart flowers. I was also reminded of Easter egg hunts at my grandma and grandpa K's house when I was little. We had a little wheel barrel that we pushed around, but for some reason I associate this wagon with egg hunts as well. In all my imaginings I did not think that just wheeling them around the house and around the block would prove to be Wyatt and Avery's favorite thing to do on a warm, sunny spring day. It is absolutely the most fun to go fast and then slow, watch Wyatt lounge back against the wagon slats with his green shades on, and see Avery's bleach blond wisps of hair blow in the breeze. I don't think I could have any more fun!

A Birthday to Remember

Avery and Wyatt were born on March 12th, 2009. Avery was born first and Wyatt came but two minutes after her. Avery was able to meet everyone and then after some initial assessments it was determined she needed to be taken to the NICU for more intensive care. She remained their for her first few days of life. Wyatt was spoiled by visits of family and friends and even took a trip or two to visit his sister with mom and dad. We spent those few days feeding and taking care of Wyatt and traveling back and forth to the NICU to get Avery the milk, love and cuddles she needed. It was on this day a year ago that we were told Avery could finally room with us and we were finally together as a family! It was a sweet day as we became acquainted with one another. We have frequently, over the past few days, stopped to think where we were but a year ago. It's amazing what has happened in the past 12 months.
This weekend we celebrated Avery and Wyatt's first birthday. It was a wonderful day shared with family and friends. We waited so long to start our family and it made this past year and the celebration at the end so special. Morgan and I not only celebrated Avery and Wyatt's big day, but also the fact that Morgan and I have survived our first year of parenting twins. Through the blur of sleepless nights, feeding frenzies, and double the crying we all made it.

We are so grateful for Avery and Wyatt. They have the best personalities - full of smiles and goofiness, kisses and cuddles. We both absolutely love being parents - not to mention we are excited about the next year of Avery and Wyatt's life. I can't imagine the new things they will learn and do. Here's to another year!
