Cousins

At the beginning of June we had the opportunity to visit my sister and her family in California.  Avery and Wyatt were able to spend some quality time with their cousin Olivia who is just 6 months younger then they are.

6 month baby bump

I have been promising some of you a picture of my baby bump.  This is about a month or so late, but we'll start with this one.  This is what 26 weeks looks like with one baby.

And then here is a comparison shot to my twins - on the left, 28 weeks and the right, 22 weeks.  Crazy, huh?

A Chicago Trip

We decided to take a trip to Chicago recently.  We were able to take the kids to the temple for the first time (that they can remember) to walk around the grounds and experience the wonderful feelings that can be felt there.  Both Avery and Wyatt could not stop talking about the temple before and after we visited.

No - I did not ask Avery to pose this way or mention posing of any kind.  This is just her nature these days!

We also were able to stay the night in a local hotel, swim in the pool, and meet my parents at Shedd Aquarium the next morning.  Swimming in the hotel pool turned out to be quite a hit as did seeing Papa and Meemaw K.

A fun pool experience and Averyism - the kids were playing in the hot tub and they decided they wanted to try to go underwater.  Wyatt went first and came up and was so excited that he had gone under water.  Avery, although usually timid to this sort of thing, went for it as well.  As she came up from the water and we cheered for her fantastic feat she exclaimed..." I went under the water just like Jesus."  It's true that we have been talking about baptism with them alot since 4 of their cousins have or will be baptized before the summer ends.  It still amazes me what they internalize!  What a great memory to take with us from our weekend.
The fam with their 3D glasses on as they sit in anticipation for the 4D Dora and Diego Show.

Wyatt and Papa checking out a HUGE python!  Wyatt has recently become fascinated with snakes.  I sense some bad things to come of this.  I do not like snakes, but will tolerate them behind glass at aquariums, pet stores, and other peoples houses.
Another of Wyatt's favorites - boats.  Every pretend activity that he does involves water, boats, dolphins, or fish.
  They were making us lunch.

Blueberry Picking!

A couple of weeks ago we took the kids to pick blueberries at one of our local u-pick spots.  It just so happens to be only 5 or so minutes from our house!  It was a great family home evening opportunity to talk about how our Heavenly Father provides so much for us on this earth.

Here are a few snapshots of our first blueberry picking experience.

Avery caught in the act.....and then posing for the camera.  Doesn't she look ornery (and cute as a button)?

My favorite two moments from blueberry picking (besides the above picture of Avery)....
  • Wyatt trying to eat a green, very unripe blueberry off of the bushes that we told him numerous times not to pick from.  It resulted in a sour face with some major gagging.  I don't think he'll do that again.
  • Avery telling me about 5 minutes into picking "Thank you so much mommy for the blueberry picking!"  It was so enthusiastic, heartfelt, and then repetitive throughout the whole evening.
We have such grateful children and I'm so grateful to be their mom!
 Our spoils!
In the end my mom and I made cinnamon blueberry jam - YUM!  We all had such a great time, I can't wait to do it again!  Here's to next blueberry season.

Reunion Time

Over the fourth of July weekend we were able to celebrate our 3rd Annual Asay Family Reunion.  All 7 of Morgan's siblings were able to come and enjoy some outdoor festivities, good food, and fun family times at Mom and Dad's house!

Morgan and I had a ton of fun putting together some games for all of the kids throughout the day.  Among them were a Sponge Obstacle Course with Kiddie Car Wash Sprinkler, Water Balloon Toss, a Water Balloon Splat Contest, a Frozen T-Shirt Contest and a Slippery Balloon Popping Contest.  I'm pretty sure everyone had a great time - at least it looks like it from the pictures.

We were able to end the evening with some spectacular fireworks put together by Morgan's older brother Kevin (supplied by dad, of course!).

We also were able to take some current family pictures to catch all the new additions to the family in the past year.  Here are just a few!
